Kanye West May Change Name To 'Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West'

Kanye West joked at an event this week that he’s considering changing his name to “Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West.”

The Chicago rapper, who appeared to be speaking in jest, made the wacky announcement while complaining that Forbes Magazine didn’t list him as a billionaire — despite his shoe company’s sales exceeding that amount.

“I showed them a $890 million receipt, and they still didn’t say ‘billionaire’,” West said during the discussion at the Fast Company Innovation Festival on Thursday.

“When people say it’s crass to call yourself a billionaire, I say I might legally change my name to Christian Genius Billionaire Kanye West for a year until y’all understand exactly what it is,” he added.

During the event, West and shoe designer Steven Smith debuted a new design of the wildly popular “Yeezys,” sneakers they said are made out of biodegradable material and do not feature laces.

In the rambling interview, West also addressed Texas inmate Rodney Reed, who his wife Kim Kardashian is lobbying to free from death row.

“All the evidence says this guy didn’t do it, and he’s supposed to be executed in 30 days, and all the celebrity blacks will tweet about it. But the question is, will they stop playing basketball for a week to make sure this innocent man gets out?” West said at the event.
