Kanye West Exposes Marriage Trouble In Trailer For New Documentary ‘In Whose Name?’

Fans will get a never-before-seen look into the chaotic mind and erratic creativity of Kanye of the Chicago producer in the forthcoming documentary, In Whose Name? A trailer for the Nico Ballesteros-directed film came out this week, showing snippets of various eras of the 48-year-old artist’s career. There is a special focus on his bipolar disorder and being on and off medication. In the trailer’s opening, the artist formerly known as Kanye West plainly states, “I’m off my meds for five months now.” Later, he says he would rather be dead than have to take meds. However, amid his mental health struggles, he finds one silver lining: “You know the best thing about being an artist and bipolar? Anything you do and say is an art piece. The documentary, which debuts exclusively in theaters on Sept. 19, also examines his marriage to Kim Kardashian and how his chaotic life affected his family. In the trailer, the mother of four emotionally states, “Your personality was not like this a few years ago.” Later on, they are shown arguing while sitting on a couch. In one clip, he yells about almost killing his daughter. He explains how, during one of his hospital stays, he conceived the idea of doing a church. Ye rides in a car and admits that he was “embarrassed or ashamed” to cry before the trailer transitions to one of the Sunday Services, where both the late DMX and Kid Cudi were present and comforting him while he shed tears. Ballesteros followed the multi-time Grammy winner around for six years, participating in 15-hour shoot days that produced over 3,000 hours of raw footage, per the documentary’s description. Viewers will also see the polarizing multi-talent go back to his roots. “Ye returns to his childhood home in Chicago, walking through its empty rooms with neighbors who knew his family when he was a boy,” the description reads. “In these moments, stripped of fame, he reflects on his roots, his grief, and the family he longs to hold onto. Walking through Ye’s inner circle, we see the loyal, the opportunistic, and the legendary; a man alternately driven by vision and consumed by ambition.
