Kanye West And Hype Williams Accused Of Plagiarizing "All Of The Lights" Video

When Kanye West and Hype Williams dropped the video for “All of the Lights” back in 2011 it had originally gained attention for its potentially seizure-inducing visuals. Not long after though, graphic designer Tom Kan leveled accusations against the video, claiming that title sequence bears too similar of a resemblance to the one he created for Enter the Void. Both videos feature colorful block letters flashing across a black backdrop.

Now, in an interview with The Daily Beast, Enter the Void director Gaspar Noé echoes the claims of plagiarism, becoming irritated, the reporter observes, when the video was brought up.

“And the director [Hype Williams] was someone else who ripped off the titles to my movie,” he said. “I was more shocked by the fact that that guy who copied all the typography of my titles put his name in it—Hype Williams—when you never usually see a director’s name in a music video. He was putting his name on it over and over! It was so weird that he was not only copying it, but adding his name into the credits over and over again.”

Enter the Void was released in 2009, two years before the “All of the Lights” video.
