Vice President Kamala Harris is continuing to put her pedal to the metal and recently appeared on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson‘s All The Smoke podcast. The Oakland native revealed that Raphael Saadiq, Too $hort, Mac Dre, and Tupac are the best musical artists in Bay Area history. She didn’t linger too much on the topic, but it is important to note that Too $hort was the first person who came to mind. While dishing with the two former NBA stars, Harris additionally affirmed her stance that people shouldn’t be in jail with marijuana-related charges and nudged that cannabis should be legalized. “I just feel strongly—people should not be going to jail for smoking weed and we know historically what that has meant and who has gone to jail. Second, I just think we have come to a point where we have to understand that we need to legalize it and stop criminalizing this behavior and this is not a new position for me. I have felt for a long time [that] we need to legalize it,” said Harris, confidently.President Biden hasn’t outright called for marijuana’s legalization, but his administration did begin the process to reclassify the drug as less dangerous. Harris also opened up about how she’s been taking care of her mental health, especially now. The answer was simple: “Don’t read the comments.” “I’m serious. Don’t read the comments; let’s start there,” Harris said with a laugh. She stated that she exercises daily to align her “mind, body, and spirit.” The 59-year-old continued, “I think it’s really important for everybody. We all have our levels of stress [but] be intentional about the people you have in your life to the extent that you can and in particular for the young people who may not know that they have a right.” Harris asked the rhetorical questions: “Do you have people in your life who applaud your success?” and “Do you have people in your life who you trust?” Elsewhere in the conversation, Harris addressed Donald Trump accusing her of “shifting her racial identity.” To which she replied, “I’m really clear about who I am and if anyone else is not, they need to go through their own level of therapy that’s not my issue.”
