Justin Timberlake Vs. Robin Thicke For Video Of The Year

The battle for Video of the Year is on! Come Sunday, Aug. 25, Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke will face off in hopes of snagging MTV's Moonman Video Music Award trophy -- and the race couldn't be tighter. Both with sexy summer songs representing the category -- "Mirrors" for Timberlake and "Blurred Lines" for Thicke -- the men join Bruno Mars ("Locked Out of Heaven"), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ("Thrift Shop") and Taylor Swift ("I Knew You Were Trouble") in the coveted quintet of nominees.

Best Male Video won't be the singers' only chance to take home a Moonman. Timberlake is also nominated for Best Pop Video and Best Editing for "Mirrors" and Best Collaboration and Best Direction for "Suit & Tie" feat. Jay-Z. Thicke, like Timberlake, is also included in the Best Male Video category.

Both men certainly have reasons to be proud of their respective Video of the Year nominations. Timberlake's nod came just months after he marked his return to music with The 20/20 Experience album, released after a seven-year hiatus from music, which Timberlake used to focus on his acting career. Thicke's 2013 smash initially drew criticism for its racy video featuring half-naked women, but the musician later found it well received -- and even widely parodied -- by fans and celebs including Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

The MTV Video Music Awards air live from Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Sunday at 9 p.m. (EST).
