Judge Reverses Taxstone Bail Decision Due To Safety Concerns Over Eyewitness

It has been confirmed by lawyer for Taxstone, Kenneth J. Montgomery that judge Andrew Peck has reversed his decision from yesterday and has denied bail for the imprisoned media personality and podcaster.

Taxstone, born Daryl Campbell, is in Federal detention. He was arrested on Monday by Federal Marshalls on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Transporting and Receiving a Firearm. Campbell was arraigned yesterday afternoon in Manhattan Southern District Federal Court and U.S. Attorney Hagen Scotten called the 31 year host of the “Tax Season” podcast a “danger to the community.” He also accused Tax of being the person who “shot the fatal shot” that killed Troy Ave’s friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter during the infamous gun riddle melee at Irving Plaza last May. Troy Ave and two others were also wounded with gunshots coming from Taxstone’s gun, according to Scotten. Apparently at least one eye witness has come forward and corroborated the prosecution’s claims, leading to judge’s decision today. Scotten also alleges Taxstone’s DNA is on the murder weapon.

Troy Ave was arrested immediately in the aftermath of the fatal Irving Plaza incident and still faces gun charges. The Brooklyn rapper, however, is out on $500,000 bail.

Yesterday in court, Judge Peck told Taxstone that he was going to “take a chance” on him and granted Campbell $500,000 bail with some added financial stipulations. While out on bail, Tax was to be remanded to house arrest but still allowed to travel to record his podcast and visit his lawyer.

Montgomery seemed optimistic after court, speaking to Revolt TV. “He should be fine, barring the government appealing the decision by the judge,” the lawyer said.
