John Legend And Chrissy Teigen Donate To Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood supporter Chrissy Teigen is putting her money where her mouth is.

The model encouraged others to donate to the reproductive health organization in the wake of a shootout at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic Friday that left a police officer and two others dead.

"Every time s--- like this happens, john and I immediately make another donation to planned parenthood," she wrote in a message that her husband, R&B singer John Legend, retweeted.

She followed up with a link to donate to the nonprofit and urged her followers to join in.

Amid solidarity from like-minded fans, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model faced backlash from pro-life Twitter users, some of whom called her a "moron," "airhead model" and "sanctimonious liberal," and advised her "stick to entertainment and stay OUT of politics."

"Extremely fine with any unfollows," an undeterred Teigen later wrote. "Would prefer it over your ignorant rants but I'm prepared either way. Nothing I haven't seen before."

One user suggested she instead make a donation to the Colorado Springs Police Department, presumably to honor Officer Garrett Swasey, who was killed during a standoff with the shooter.

"It might seem insane, but it's possible to support two things at once. I suggest you do the same," she replied, linking to a donation page for the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs. "Happy to donate. Anything else?"

Several other celebrities chimed in their support for the organization, including "Scandal" star Kerry Washington, actress Rose McGowan, comedian Kathy Griffin and "Pitch Perfect 2" director Elizabeth Banks, many using the hashtag #StandWithPP.

The suspected gunman, now in custody, has been identified by authorities as 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear, a man previously investigated for animal cruelty, domestic abuse and Peeping Tom accusations.

Police are still working to determine a motive for the five-hour standoff that killed three and wounded nine others.
