IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Criitics of Jennifer Lopez's new single are saying they've heard it before - on Hispanic hottie Kat DeLuna's last album.

After J.Lo's single "On the Floor" leaked to the Web on Friday and premiered officially on Ryan Seacrest's radio show Monday morning, sharp-eared listeners noted the track bore a discomforting resemblance, musically and lyrically, to DeLuna's "Party O'Clock," which was released last fall.

They also pointed out another coincidence for the two songs: Both were produced by Grammy nominee RedOne (real name: Nadir Khayat).

DeLuna's "Party O'Clock" was released in November on the singer's European album, "Inside Out," which was not put out in the U.S.

The single wasn't the first time DeLuna, 23, had worked with Red-One. They teamed on her first major hit, "Whine Up," which put both the singer and RedOne on the map. That single reached No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, and RedOne went on to work with Lady Gaga and now Lopez.

What's unclear at this point is whether the 41-year-old J.Lo was aware of the similarities between the songs.
The younger Latina's fans certainly noticed right away. Soon after "On the Floor" hit the Web, bloggers accused J.Lo and RedOne of ripping off the melody, harmony and even some lyrics from "Party O'Clock."

One blogger with the online name katdelunaNumber1Fan even produced a mash-up YouTube video of the two songs that highlights their similarities. "J Lo Needs to Thank Kat DeLuna," reads a tag line on the video.

A source close to DeLuna tells us that "Kat and Red¬One wrote the lyrics together for ‘Party O'Clock,'" and points out that in DeLuna's song, she sings: "Party in Ibiza, Party in New York/All the way to Africa/Love in the Caribbean/On my way to Vegas."

That's similar to the territory J.Lo covers - more succinctly - in "On the Floor": "Cuz London to Ibiza/Straight to L.A. New York/Vegas to Africa."

Our insider says he "doesn't know" if Lopez "did this intentionally," and adds that he can't understand why an artist of J.Lo's caliber would need to "cop Kat's style."

DeLuna, on the other hand, sounded more flattered than upset over the songs' similarities. Through her publicist, she told us, "It's cool that artists like J.Lo are inspired by my musical sound and style." DeLuna added: "Jennifer helped pave the way for Latinas like myself. I love her."

A spokesman for J.Lo had no comment, and RedOne did not get back to us by deadline.
