JAYSON WILLIAMS GETS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER A DUI CAR CRASH!

Troubled ex-NBA star Jayson Williams will likely be charged with drunk driving after crashing his luxury SUV in Manhattan early Tuesday, police sources said.
Williams, who will soon face a retrial in the fatal shooting of his limo driver, refused to take a Breathalyzer test after his Mercedes jumped a curb and hit a tree near Stuyvesant Town at 3:15 a.m., the sources said.

Williams - a city high school hoops legend - suffered cuts to the face and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, police said. The injuries were considered minor.

Williams, 41, was driving north on the FDR Drive and then crashed moments after he exited near E. 20th St. and Avenue C, police said.

When cops first arrived at the scene, they found the former New Jersey Net sitting in his vehicle's passenger seat - as if to make it look like he wasn't driving, sources said.

But witnesses told cops that Williams was alone in the vehicle.

Debris from the early morning crash remained on the sidewalk hours later. Investigators are seeking a warrant to test Williams' blood and he is likely to be charged with driving while intoxicated, the sources said.

Williams had been scheduled to appear in court next week for the first stage of a manslaughter case against him for the 2002 killing of Costas (Gus) Christofi at the star's palatial "Who Knew?" New Jersey estate. Investigators charged that Williams was playing with a shotgun when it went off and killed the driver.

The star was initially cleared of the most serious charges but a court ruled that he could be retried on reckless manslaughter charges. Prosecutors had previously offered him a plea deal on the reckless manslaughter charge that would have sent him to prison for three years, but it is unclear if that deal is still on the table.

Williams, who earlier had been convicted of covering up the crime, has paid Christofi's family $2.75 million to settle a wrongful death suit.

The former St. John's University star, whose behavior has grown more erratic in recent years, was hospitalized in April after he grew violent in a Battery Park City hotel room.

Cops found suicide notes and empty pill bottles scattered throughout the room and were forced to use stun guns and handcuffs to subdue the former NBA All-Star.

A month later, Williams was arrested for punching a man during a bar fight in Raleigh, North Carolina. Those chargers were later dropped.
