Jay-Z & Will Smith To Executive Produce ABC Series Telling Emmett Till's Story

After being shelved by HBO for years, the Jay-Z and Will Smith-executive produced Emmett Till story finally has a home. According to Deadline, the story has been picked up by ABC as part of the civil rights anthology series Women of the Movement and will be told from the perspective of Till's mother, Mamie Till-Mobley.

The report says the women-driven series will center around Till-Mobley reliving the horror of her son's 1955 Mississippi lynching and arrive in the form of an eight-episode first season, which will loosely be based on Devery S. Anderson's book Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.

An Emmett Till biopic was also in the works with Taraji P. Henson set to play Mamie Till-Mobley, but with director John Singleton's death earlier this year, production on the silver-screen flick has been halted.
