It's been a long time coming, but on Saturday (May 8), Betty White will finally have her shot at hosting "Saturday Night Live." Though the comedy vet admits to feeling kind of nervous, she welcomes the chance to host the famous series, since it will finally give her the chance to hit the stage with Jay-Z.
"The nerves are running rampant tonight because I'm scared to death, if you really want to know the truth," she said about the big show this weekend. "Well, there are a lot of sketches coming up. I know it seems like about 350, and I will be doing a couple of sketches with Jay-Z, so that should be fun."
The "Golden Girls" star said she thinks performing alongside Jay will finally prove to all her pals that she's still hip. "I'm very excited about meeting him, and I bragged to all my friends who think I'm over the hill," she joked. "Well, I did a sketch with Jay-Z."
The show, billed as a Mother's Day special, will also see a number of the series' biggest female names returning to the "SNL" stage, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler; Molly Shannon; Maya Rudolph; Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch. "I was extra thrilled that some of the regulars were coming back," White said. "That makes it great fun to know I'll be working with them."
Her appearance on the show comes in a year when White has seen a huge resurgence in her popularity that may have started back when she co-starred in "The Proposal" last summer. "This year has been a startler for me," she said. "It's wonderful. I'm terribly grateful for the honors."
