JAY-Z Says He Has Nothing But Disrespect For President Trump

JAY-Z has no respect for President Trump — but is holding out hope for the future.

The famous rapper, who supported Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, told BBC on Friday that black people have been through so much more than Trump and that this presidency is a joke.

"I believe that we are resilient, especially us as black people and especially the culture. We've been through so much more than this guy," he said in an interview with BBC Radio 1. "This guy, I'm looking at him like, man, this is a joke, with all — I can't even say with all due respect — with all disrespect."

The “4:44” rapper went on to say that Trump is not a “sophisticated man” — particularly pointing out the ideas that everyone is free.

“Until everyone is free, no one is free,” JAY-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, said. "Period. That's just a fact."

"We are all linked some kind of way. So if you oppress a certain people, everyone is in danger, karmically and in real life. If I'm being oppressed and you have this big, nice mansion, I'm coming inside there. That's gonna happen, that's just how life is," he continued.

The 47-year-old ultimately looked at the current state of politics with a positive mindset. In the nearly 20 minute conversation he discussed raising a black family in America and told interviewer Clara Amfo, “everything that happens in life is for your greatest good.”

“I don't think that this is happening if we weren't prepared to handle it,” he said, referencing the Black Lives Matter movement and the prevalence of white supremacists. “I'm just looking forward to what's next after that, because usually when things are darkest, then light is on its way. I'm not fearful."

He also commented on politics, noting the system doesn't really work the way intended and shared that politicians forget that the laws they make affect "real-life people."

The rapper said he plans to use what's happening in the country — and the world — as material for his next album, but hasn't started working on anything new just yet.

He released "4:44" in June 2017.

JAY-Z also referenced his two new twins at home with wife Beyoncé and described how hard it was to leave them to work — but keeps coming back because he's a musician and performer to the core.

"Truth is, it's my passion, it's what I love to do: make music and perform," he said. "It's who I am."
