Jay Z's "Made in America" concert is getting the big screen treatment with Oscar-winning director Ron Howard at the helm.
A documentary about the weekend festival, directed and produced by Howard and Brian Grazer, debuted last year at the Toronto Film Festival in September — and garnered a TV release on Showtime a month later.
Artists featured in the documentary include Run DMC, Rita Ora and Janelle Monae, who all joined the "Holy Grail" rapper at the Philadelphia Budweiser music celebration in 2012.
Many of the performers provide interviews about their work, background and passion for music throughout the documentary.
The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, founded the festival with the theme of unifying music with the American dream. In a segment about Jay Z's rags-to-riches story, the rapper revisits his old apartment at Brooklyn's Marcy Projects.
"After great tragedy, creativity is born," he says in the trailer, after going up to the roof of his former building.
"Made in America" is slated to hit theaters July 22.
