For Jay-Z and Beyoncé, the name Blue Ivy is music to their ears.

But for residents of the Marcy Houses in Brooklyn — where the hip hop mogul grew up — the much anticipated moniker is striking some dissonant chords.

“I think it’s cute, but I don’t like it. I wouldn’t name my child that,” resident Natalia Mara, 34, told the Daily News.

“I don’t think its a name first of all," she said. “It’s just a color. And ivy is a plant.”

Marcy matron Sara Hill disagreed and gave the selection her blessing.

“I love it,” proclaimed the 81-year-old, who’s been living in the complex for six decades. “I think it’s a beautiful name because they are so in love.”

While the power parents haven’t explained their name choice publicly, both names appear to carry longstanding meaning.

Jay-Z’s three “Blueprint” albums are rap classics, and he rhymed that his “favorite hue is Jay-Z Blue,” in Young Jeezy’s 2005 song “Go Crazy.”

Ivy, meanwhile, is rumored to be a play on IV, the Roman numeral for the couple’s beloved number four.

Beyoncé’s latest studio album was titled “4,” her birthday is Sept. 4, Jay-Z’s birthday is Dec. 4 and the couple wed in a private ceremony April 4, 2008.

“We all have special numbers in our lives, and four is that for me,” she told Billboard last year.
