The world's most recognizable rapper appeared to finally join Instagram on Saturday – only to quit the site just 14 hours later.
An account allegedly run by Jay Z shared a pair of photos of the hip-hop mogul alongside Michael Jackson over the weekend, celebrating what would have been the King of Pop's 57th birthday.
"Happy Birthday to the King!" the photo caption read. "This may be my first and last post."
The account, which used the name @Hovsince96, was never officially verified by the site, but music executive Michael Kyser, a close friend of the rapper, shared a photo of Jay Z appearing to gaze down at the opened Instagram app on his phone.
"Follow my brother @Hovsince96 ASAP," Kyser captioned the picture of the rapper.
Jay Z's alleged account quickly racked up more than 100,000 followers before disbanding Sunday morning.
The "Empire State of Mind" artist has never been especially active on social media. His Twitter account is verified, but he's only tweeted 236 times since joining the site in November 2008, despite having more than 3.2 million followers.
His relative online inactivity is a far cry from that of his wife, Beyoncé, who boasts more than 44.4 million followers on Instagram.
Beyoncé held the record for most Instagram followers for a long time, only to be passed last week by Kim Kardashian, who currently has over 44.6 million followers.
Sometimes a real OG can't take all the hating, d!ck sucking groupies both male and female on IG …...
