Jay Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean & Hip-Hop Producer Mike Dean Accused Of Stealing Made In America

Jay Z, Kanye West, Frank Ocean and hip-hop producer Mike Dean are accused in a new lawsuit of stealing their well regarded song, “Made in America.”

Joel McDonald, a Brooklyn musician, said he wrote the song and published it in 2009 on iTunes, but the high profile performers took credit for the song in 2011 when they released a joint album called “Watch the Throne.”

Then they performed it in concerts around the country and even named a new Budweiser-sponsored music festival after the song.

At the festival in Philadelphia over Labor Day weekend, Jay Z made headlines when he had $2 bills tossed into the audience during the set where the song was performed.

In papers filed last month in Manhattan Supreme Court, McDonald is demanding $3 million in damages for what he calls copyright infringement.

There was no immediate comment from the defendants.
