A surprise concert featuring Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z was canceled, after New York officials voiced their concerns about security for the performance. According to reports, Jay-Z was prepared to perform on top of the Ed Sullivan Theater on Monday (June 21st). The show was axed by officials at the Mayor's Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting, after news of the surprise concert leaked to the media on (June 17th). The decision was made after a concert featuring Drake at the South Street Seaport turned into chaos earlier this week, leaving six people with minor injuries and two people arrested.
