Jay Electronica Disses Birdman In Defense Of JAY-Z Amid Super Bowl Halftime Show Drama

Jay Electronica hasn’t taken too kindly to the criticism that’s been aimed at JAY-Z amid the announcement of Kendrick Lamar‘s performance during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show. Jay Elect jumped on social media and came to Hov’s defense during the course of an epic rant that spanned hours and multiple topics and subjects. However, the most direct jabs saw the rapper seemingly throwing shots at Cash Money Records CEO Bryan ‘Birdman‘ Williams, who many felt spoke ill of Hov in response to Lil Wayne not being chosen as the halftime show headliner. “Ni**as got all this smoke for Hov but they ain’t got no smoke for David Geffen and jimmy iovine and lucían grange and lyor cohen etcetera etcetera,” the “Exhibit C” artist wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I DO NOT RESPECT YOUR GANGSTER. You p*ssy,” he added. A native of New Orleans, where Super Bowl LIX is slated to be held, Jay Electronica continued to scoff at the vitriol aimed at JAY-Z, the NFL’s current music strategist and one of the figures responsible for choosing the musical performer for the annual halftime show. “I don’t respect no gangsta that’s scared of the white man,” he added. “Periodt.” In a string of tweets that have since been deleted, Jay Elect gets more direct, pointing to the drama surrounding Hot Boys member Turk amid the group’s anticipated, yet delayed reunion. “How you ni**as did Turk was dirty and lame,” he wrote at one point, adding, ESPECIALLY since he REALLY MAGNOLIA and yall not.” The lyricist also referenced the Hot Boys’ debut studio album, Get It How U Live, before seemingly mocking Birdman even further, commending 50 Cent for his efforts in the city of Shrevport and shaming Birdman and his affiliates for their lack thereof. Jay Electronica ended by challenging JAY-Z’s detractors to focus their attention toward cultural and sociopolitical matters that would better their communities as opposed to infighting against those of their ilk. “How yall so quick to let yall gun bust at your brother over nothing,” he surmised. “If yall would put 10 percent of this negative energy over a FOOTBALL game into unifying for one common cause, our ppl would be free overnight. Salaaam Alaikum.”
