Japan has said "sayonara" to Paris Hilton.
The socialite was barred from entering the country on Wednesday, just two days after she pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors in her Las Vegas cocaine bust.
Japan has strict immigration policies that prohibit entry to those convicted of drug charges. While there are sometimes exceptions, none were made for the hotel heiress.
"I'm going back home and I look forward to coming back to Japan in the future," Hilton – donned in a black baseball hat, sunglasses and navy sweat suit – told reporters at the Narita International Airport, near Tokyo, before hopping on her private jet.
Hilton was supposed to make an appearance in Tokyo on Wednesday to promote her fashion and perfume lines. That was put on hold after she ended up being questioned by authorities for six hours over two days, according to a Japanese immigration official. Hilton spent the night at the airport hotel.
The 29-year-old said she was "really tired," and cancelled other publicity events in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia.
Hilton's publicist, Dawn Miller, said she plans on rescheduling the visit.
"Paris is very disappointed and fought hard to keep her business commitments and see her fans, but she is forced to postpone her commitments in Asia," she said in a statement. "Paris understands and respects the rules and laws of the immigration authorities in Japan and fully wishes to cooperate with them."
Hilton is not the first celeb to be barred from Japan. Soccer star Diego Maradona was initially prohibited from entering the country in 2002 for the World Cup finals for past drug offenses, but was eventually allowed temporary entry.
The Rolling Stones also had trouble getting into Japan for years due to former drug convictions. And in 1980, Beatles member Paul McCartney was arrested for marijuana possession at the airport. He was later deported.
Hilton confirmed the setback on Twitter.
"Going home now," she tweeted. "So disappointed to miss my fans in Asia. I promise to come back soon. I love you all! Love Paris xoxo."
