Jamie Foxx is returning to his comedy roots.
The entertainer, 51, announced plans to head out on a stand-up tour later this year, while surprising fans at Grey Goose vodka’s Live Victoriously event at The Times Square Edition hotel bar Tuesday evening.
After naming off a litany of cities around the US, he said, “The reason I know those area codes is because that’s how I got started. I’m going on my new tour — it’s called Kill the Comedian. Jamie Foxx. Make sure you come check me out. I got these jokes for your motherf—kin’ ass.”
Though he’s achieved success in TV, movies and music, Foxx got his start performing on stage as a comedian. After a few years of stand-up, he joined the cast of Fox’s sketch comedy series “In Living Color” in 1991, and appeared in his first movie, “Toys,” the next year.
He’s previously released three comedy specials — 1993’s “Straight from the Foxxhole,” 2002’s “I Might Need Security” and 2003’s “Jamie Foxx Unleashed: Lost, Stolen and Leaked!.”
