Jada Pinkett Smith Slams Oscars For Lack Of Diversity

She's certainly not thanking the Academy.

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith slammed the Oscars selection committee for only nominating white actors for awards at next month's highly anticipated show — and even questioned whether actors of color should boycott the prestigious ceremony altogether.

"At the Oscars, people of color are always welcomed to give out awards, even entertain, but we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments," she wrote on Facebookand Twitter.

"Should people of color refrain from participating all together?" she continued. "People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment, J."

Pinkett Smith was one of many people outraged by the lack of diversity among this year's nominees — especially considering this is the second consecutive year that only white actors were nominated for an Oscar.

One of the most notable snubs in this year's show is Pinkett Smith's husband, Will Smith, who dazzled in his dramatic portrayal of Dr. Bennet Omalu in 2015's harrowing NFL medical tell-all, "Concussion."

But Smith was far from the only prominent actor of color to be spurned, as Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation), Michael B. Jordan (Creed) and Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton) were also strong candidates that weren't nominated.

Likewise, neither "Creed" nor "Straight Outta Compton" was nominated for Best Picture, despite being among the year's most critically acclaimed films.

Will Packer, who served as a producer for "Straight Outta Compton," has also shared his dismay over minorities being so poorly represented at the Academy Awards, calling it "embarrassing."

"To my Academy colleagues, WE HAVE TO DO BETTER. Period," he wrote on Facebook last week.

"The reason the rest of the world looks at us like we have no clue is because in 2016 it's a complete embarrassment to say that the heights of cinematic achievement have only been reached by white people," he continued. "I repeat — it's embarrassing."

Meanwhile, the president of the Academy Cheryl Boone, who is African American, said she was "disappointed" that no actors of colors were nominated.

"Of course I am disappointed, but this is not to take away the greatness (of the nominees)," she told Deadline. "This has been a great year in film, it really has across the board."

Boone did contend, however, that they "have to speed it up" in terms of increasing the diversity among those nominated.
