IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

J-LO FAKES THE BLOCK! TO HOLLYWOOD TO BE HOOD!

Jenny was nowhere near the block when she filmed the gauzy new Fiat commercial that’s set in The Bronx — she was in L.A.

Instead, the ad agency that created the 60-second spot hired a body double for Jennifer Lopez for the parts of the commercial where the starlet supposedly cruises through her old stomping grounds in a brand new Fiat 500, The Smoking Gun reports.

Lopez, the website says, “actually never set foot in the Bronx during the filming of the Fiat spots.”

A local spokeswoman for the Italian car company defended the commercial, which made its debut last week.

She said they were “working at the time to accommodate” Lopez’s schedule.

“The commercial tells the story of how the simple elements of our upbringing can help explain who we are, where we’re going and serve as a source of inspiration to achieve our goals in life,” Dianna Gutierrez of Chrysler Group LLC said in a statement. “One does not need to be in a specific location to be inspired or continue to be inspired.”

Gutierrez could have been reading from J.Lo’s script.

“Here, this is my world,” the 42-year-old superstar says in a voice over as the commercial unspools. “This place inspires me to be. To be tougher. To stay sharper. To think faster.”

Later, the former “American Idol” judge adds:

“They may be just streets to you, but to me they’re a playground.”

Lopez, or rather her look-alike, is seen driving through the gritty streets past the requisite teenagers drumming on plastic pails, kids splashing by an open fire hydrant, teenagers shooting baskets, break dancing boys, cop on the beat, and Catholic school girls jumping rope.

“Until It Beats No More,” a single from Lopez’s new album “Love?” swells in the background.

Lopez has shot several other commercials as part of her multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Fiat. She reportedly did the shots of herself driving at a Los Angeles studio, which were then spliced with the footage shot in New York.

While Lopez was hired by Fiat to give their pocket-sized car some street cred, as a pitch-woman she’s been off-pitch.

Not only are consumers not buying the premise that Lopez drives through the Bronx to get inspired, they’re not buying the car.

Fiat had hoped to sell 50,000 cars through October, so far they’ve only been able to unload 15,826, Business Insider reported.

No wonder they brought the AMA's & made it a J-LO Show! SMFH! Fiat's are wack! I dont care if they have a Gucci 1 it still looks like a clown car!
