J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only” Debuts At Number One

J. Cole ends his 2016 on a high note, as his fourth studio album 4 Your Eyez Only debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at number one.

The album sold 511,000 equivalent units in its first week, which places the album as the third-highest debut week of any album this year, behind Drake’s Views and Beyonce’s Lemonade. Of the over half a million units J. Cole’s album sold, 378,000 of the units are traditional album sales.

According to Rolling Stone, this is the third time in recent weeks that an album had the distinction of “third-highest debut of 2016,” before having it taken away by another album.

“Metallica’s Hardwired… to Self-Destruct obtained the distinction in November, only to lose it to the Weeknd’s Starboy a week later, who in turn bestowed it to J. Cole,” read the site.
