iTunes Names Drake’s ‘Views’ Top-Selling Album Of 2016

To say that 2016 has been an extremely rewarding year for the Toronto rapper would be an understatement. Drake’s latest body of work, Views, was named the best-selling rap album on iTunes, the Associated Press reports. “One Dance,” which was one of the lead singles off of Views, also reigns as the most downloaded song of the year.

What put the icing on the cake is after Drizzy’s current album went 4x platinum, he also managed to rack up eight nominations from the 2017 Grammy Awards. The “Controlla” rapper’s noms include Album of the Year (Views), Best Rap Song (“Hotline Bling”), Best Rap Performance (“Pop Style” Feat. Kanye and Jay-Z), amid other categories.

In addition to this recognition, the 30-year-old rapper also had over 4.7 billion streams on Spotify. If Drake hasn’t put in enough work to prove that he wants to be number one, he is also set to release More Life later this year. Although some people weren’t too excited that he was the only rap album nominee for Best Album, he’ll still get the credit when it’s due.

If Drake does take home Best Rap Album, he’ll surely have one of the greatest acceptance speeches. Back in 2012, when he won a Grammy in the same category (Take Care), he released a heartfelt video of him receiving his award and his whole team literally took a shot out of it.
