ICE Reportedly Can't Seize 21 Savage's Assets

Even if 21 Savage is deported, ICE reportedly won’t be able to seize his assets.

Since the agency is only privy to money earned through illegal activities, it won’t have a claim on the “Bank Account” rapper’s money, reports TMZ.

According to a report by the website over the weekend, any money earned legally cannot be seized by the government, regardless of the earner’s residency status.

It’s unclear exactly how much money the rapper, who has been signed to Epic Records since 2017, has earned, but reports put his net worth at anywhere between $4 million and $21 million.

21 Savage, whose real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, was arrested by ICE agents during Super Bowl weekend in Atlanta. The agency alleges the rapper is a UK citizen and has been living in the country since overstaying his visa as a child.

In the days since he was apprehended, the rapper’s lawyers have confirmed he was born in the UK and that he did overstay a visa, but as he was just a child his in-doubt status is due to something he had no control over.

“Mr. Abraham-Joseph, like almost two million of his immigrant child peers, was left without immigration status as a young child with no way to fix his immigration status,” his attorneys said in the statement. “These ‘Dreamers’ come from all walks of life and every ethnicity.”
