It was a good day when circle got the square.
Acting as executive producer, Ice Cube is teaming up with VH1 for a hip-hop version of the classic game show "Hollywood Squares."
Titled "Hip Hop Squares," the show will feature celebrity contestants playing tic-tac-toe as they judge the pop culture knowledge of superstars from the world of hip-hop, comedy and entertainment. VH1's parent company, Viacom, has ordered 20 episodes.
"'Hip Hop Squares' is going to be fun and spontaneous," Ice Cube told the Hollywood Reporter. "Unlike typical game shows, viewers should never know what's going to happen next."
As Rolling Stone points out though, fellow Viacom sibling network MTV2 produced a show in 2012 with the same name and premise. Ironically, it ran for 20 episodes.
One celebrity already championing the remake is the People's Champ, aka Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Johnson retweeted the announcement, commenting, "Fun spin! Can't wait."
Fans will only have to wait until the fall to see Cube's take on the squares.
