Ice Cube And Dr. Dre Reportedly Cleared In Wrongful Death Suit

Music moguls Ice Cube and Dr. Dre have reportedly been cleared in the wrongful death lawsuit filed against them, according to TMZ.

The rappers were named in the lawsuit by the family of Terry Carter, who was killed in January 2015 when Marion (Suge) Knight allegedly ran him over in a Compton burger stand parking lot.

Knight, who was also named in the lawsuit, pleaded not guilty to Carter’s murder.

A court determined that Ice Cube and Dr. Dre weren’t responsible for the death and couldn’t be blamed for Knight’s alleged actions, according to TMZ.

The Carter family’s lawsuit, which seeks real and punitive damages for lost love, affection, wages and future earning capacity, also named Universal movie studio, Tam’s Burgers and former gang member Cle “Bone” Sloan.

Knight allegedly fought with Sloan on location for the N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Sloan then repotredly attacked the rap mogul in the burger lot, at which point prosecutors claim Knight intentionally ran him over as revenge and failed to stop before also hitting Carter.

The lawsuit also claims that Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Universal, who distributed "Straight Outta Compton," should have known Sloan and Knight had a history of problems and that their decision to shoot the movie in Compton with Sloan on set and Knight unhappy with the script presented a serious risk.

“(They) should have known that there was a likelihood of some sort of violent confrontation between Suge and Bone (occurring) if they were ever allowed to confront each other, and that such an encounter could become violent and lead to damages and injuries to members of the public, including Terry Carter,” the suit reads.
