Harry Potter's spellbinding final movie shattered box office records yesterday.
The boy wizard's magic touch remains as powerful as ever after "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" brought in a transfixing $168.6 million across the U.S. and Canada from Friday to yesterday.
The film smashed by more than $10 million the previous record for three-day box office sales, held by the 2008 Batman movie "The Dark Knight."
The Warner Bros. movie also brought in $307 million in 59 countries, bringing the total global sales to nearly $476 million.
The eighth film in the magical saga had audiences across the world mesmerized, with many choosing to watch its hotly anticipated release in 3D.
The movies are based on British author J.K. Rowling's hugely successful novels about a young wizard and his friends who battle against evil.
"This will be the biggest 'Harry Potter' by far," said Warner Bros.' head of domestic distribution, Dan Fellman. "It's just a great way to exit, with the class and style that J.K. Rowling wrote into these stories."
