You know a comedian is good when he can make people laugh during his own arrest.
Bodycam footage of Hannibal Buress‘ December 2017 arrest emerged Tuesday, in which the funnyman can be seen cracking jokes and interacting with fans passing on the street.
“Hey, what’s up?! It’s me, Hannibal Buress. This cop is stupid as f—k. Hey, put this camera on,” Buress, 34, says in the footage. “Hey, what’s up, YouTube?”
When an officer attempts to cuff the comedian, Buress repeatedly asks what his charges are. The officer responds numerous times with, “You’ll find out.” Buress also asks ad nauseam if he’s under arrest and demands to be read his Miranda rights.
Buress had his own inkling of what his charges may have been, telling passers-by, “Hey, what’s happening? I’m under arrest right now for calling him a bitch-ass n—a.”
The comedian also encouraged pedestrians to film the incident and stay close by, much to the officers’ chagrin.
The officer claimed that Buress would find out “in writing,” but eventually informed him that he’d been detained for trespassing and disorderly intoxication, to which Buress replied, “You know y’all goofy as f—k, right?”
He added, “I’m chillin’, he’s just salty that I roasted his ass.”
Upon being ordered repeatedly to get into the police car — and refusing — eventually Buress got in the back seat, yelling, “You look stupid right now!” He can then be heard laughing hysterically, crying out, “Yo, y’all funny as f—k.”
In a video captured by one of the pedestrians and released last month, officers can be heard accusing Buress of trespassing, but refuse to say where he was trespassing or who is pressing charges against him.
Buress eventually was booked into Miami-Dade County jail just before 2 a.m. and posted bail of $500 shortly before 6 a.m. He was charged not with trespassing, but with disorderly intoxication, the Miami Herald reported.
