IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

She can’t properly walk the Oscars' red carpet this year, so Halle Berry made the tough decision not to show up at all.

The Academy Award winner canceled her appearance at Hollywood’s biggest night prior to the show.

According to People magazine, the actress, 45, says that her foot, which she injured back in September, is to blame.

A statement from Warner Bros. initially claimed that she had broken her foot while “walking in Majorca on a day-off from filming” upcoming flick “Cloud Atlas,” but a source later revealed that the doting mom had injured herself chasing after daughter Nahla.

Berry’s young daughter, 3 1/2, was reportedly chasing a goat around the rocky countryside, and when the actress finally caught up to her and tried to walk her back to their villa, she stumbled over a rock and broke her foot.

Berry is not nominated for any awards this year, but was originally set for presenter duties.

The actress was last nominated for a Golden Globe for her lead role in the drama “Frankie & Alice” at last year’s ceremony.

She made history in 2002 with her win for Best Actress in film “Monster’s Ball,” the same year as Denzel Washington won Best Actor for “Training Day.”

It was the first time two African-American performers had won the top acting Oscar awards in the same year.

“This moment is so much bigger than me,” she’d said at the time. “This moment is for Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll. ... This is for every faceless woman who now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened.”
