IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane returned to Twitter today, after a seven-day absence due to his arrest and subsequent evaluation in a mental facility.

The rapper was in court on January 3rd, where he stood before a judge who recommended the rapper be sent to prison for a year, for violating the terms of his probation during an altercation in Atlanta on November 2nd, 2010.

Gucci entered into a "special plea of mental incompetency" stating it was not possible for him to "intelligently" participate in the sentencing hearing.

The rapper was immediately sent to Anchor Hospital, where he underwent a series of tests.

Earlier this evening (January 10th), Gucci returned to his official Twitter account, where he announced a brand new mixtape titled Gucci 2X to his 380,498 followers.

In a message to his 1017 Brick Squad label mate Waka Flocka Flames, Gucci tweeted: "BRUH, TELL'EM BOUT DA NEW MIXTAPE GUCCI 2X DA PPL WANNA HEAR!"

Although he didn't reveal a release date, the rapper said the mixtape was coming soon.

Gucci Mane will appear in court on January 24th, where he is expected to be sentenced to prison for violating the terms of his probation.

The rapper is also working on a 1017 Brick Squad compilation.
