GTFOH! YOU CAN NOW SNIFF CAFFEINE INSTEAD OF DRINKING IT!

Instead of drinking caffeine, a Harvard brainiac has come up with a way to inhale it.

David Edwards, a biomedical engineering professor, expects his AeroShot, a lipstick-sized case of breathable caffeine, could give Red Bull a run for its money.

“The act of putting it in your mouth is the act of breathing — so it’s sort of surprising and often people the first time they take the AeroShot, they laugh,” Edwards told the Associated Press.

But Sen. Charles Schumer is worried that the product, which Edwards developed with a French company, could fuel club kids to party until they drop dead.

Fearing it could become another Four Loko, the caffeinated alcohol drink the State Liquor Authorityremoved from shelves last year, Schumer has asked the FDA to test AeroShot to ensure its safety.

While AeroShot contains no alcohol, each canister packs 100 milligrams of lime-flavored caffeine and vitamin B. Its package warns users not to take more than three AeroShots a day. Kids under 12, pregnant women and people allergic to ragweed are advised to stay away from it.

Edwards insisted the product is safe.

“Anything new, there’s always some knee-jerk reaction that makes us believe ‘Well, maybe it’s not safe,’” Edwards said.

The product hit New York stores a month ago, but shopkeepers say sales have been lethargic.

“I haven’t had any repeat customers for that,” said Don Singh, a clerk at Andy’s Deli on Seventh Ave. in Greenwich Village.

Singh said he sold about 24 of the $2.99 AeroShot canisters since he started stocking it last month.

A clerk at the nearby Parsley & Sage store said he sent a case back to its distributor because he didn’t sell any.

“It’s garbage,” said the clerk, who didn’t want to be identified.

Dr. Lisa Ganjhu, a gastroenterologist at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, said it’s important for people not to ingest too much caffeine, even if they are inhaling it.

"You want those 10 cups of coffee, it will probably take you a couple hours to get through all that coffee,” she said. “With these inhale caffeine canisters... you just puff away and you could be getting all that within the hour."
