Virtual violence is raking in very real cash.
“Grand Theft Auto V” scored more than $800 million in sales Wednesday as fanatics around the world snatched up the malicious video game, manufacturer Take-Two Interactive Software reported on its website.
That’s more than even Superman could do, with the Warner Bros. film “Man of Steel” hauling in $663 million worldwide.
The latest in the thug-laden video game series netted Take-Two Interactive its “highest first-day retail sales” ever. It cost $115 million to make the game, in which players can kill targets with a disturbing variety of weapons.
Analysts predict the game will generate $1 billion in sales in a month.
