A new bill awaiting the Florida governor’s signature has some asking: Was that really not a law yet?
SB 344, which bans sexual activity between humans and animals, passed the Florida House and Senate on Wednesday, along with a so-called "droopy drawers" bill, which forces students to pull up their pants while at school.
The so-called "bestiality bill" has been a passion of state Sen. Nan Rich, who took up the fight after numerous cases involving sexual acts with animals in the past few years, NBCMiami.com reported.
The bill would make such acts a first-degree misdemeanor.
Rich has brought up the bill in previous years, but house leaders were worried that passing the law would lead to ridicule, the Miami New Times wrote. But after the bill failed twice, the ridicule came anyway and the bill passed unanimously this time.
A similar bill proposed in Alaska failed in 2009.
REALLY? THEY NEED A BILL FOR THIS SH!T? WHO'S F**KING ANIMALS?
