GEORGE LUCAS ENGAGED TO MELLODY HOBSON

Proving the Force is strong in their relationship, George Lucas got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson.

Lucas, 68, had been dating Hobson, the chair of Ariel Investments, a $3 billion firm, and a contributor on “Good Morning America,” for seven years.

It’s been an eventful three months for the “Star Wars” creator, who recently sold his company, Lucasfilm, to Disney for roughly $4 billion in cash and stock.

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” Lucas said in a release at the time. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime."

Then Lucas almost immediately turned around and donated the $4 billion to an undisclosed education fund.

This will be the second time down the aisle for Lucas, whose 14-year marriage to Marcia Lucas ended in 1983.
