Funkmaster Flex’s recent comments about Kimora Lee Simmons blew up in his face after he accidentally accused her and DaBaby of being intimately involved. The radio host later clarified his claims, saying he had actually been referring to Birdman, not DaBaby. On Tuesday (Dec. 16), Kimora came up again during Flex’s morning shift on Hot 97, where he gave more details about why he had a problem with Kimora concurrently having a relationship with Russell and Birdman. Flex shared a little backstory about his relationship with Kimora, saying he met her with Russell in the early 2000s. Around that time, someone from Birdman's label—presumably Cash Money Records—called Flex about the rapper wanting to stop by Hot 97. “The label said, ‘Oh, Birdman would like to come by, and he has Kimora Lee with him.’ This was while she was seeing Russell, who I was friends with,” Flex said. “I told the label, ‘No, you can't bring that bird by my show with Birdman.’” Flex added, “Birdman at the time got more bread than Russell. “Imma keep it a buck today,” Flex continued. “At the time Russell…was very, very upset. Tears, upset. … You want to come up here and hang out with Birdman. You think I'm not going to feel a way, and [Russell] shouldn't feel a way? Still, Flex gave Kimora her flowers, saying she knows he “likes her a lot.” “She was definitely instrumental in Russell Simmons’ reinvention,” he said. “Forget just businessman—she was curator before curator.” “I guess there was some things that I saw then—it didn't seem like Kimora Lee to me. Just the person I knew…wanting to hang out with the rappers, or whatever was the current guy with the money. … I'm not saying she's a bird; that was bird tendencies back then.” Flex made headlines on Monday when he criticized Kimora Lee following the premiere of her new reality show, Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane, claiming that she and DaBaby had a sexual relationship. When those allegations found their way back to DaBaby, he responded, calling them “1,000% false.” Flex later apologized to the rapper during his evening radio shift, saying he meant Birdman. During Flex’s Monday morning broadcast, he attacked Kimora, saying, "She's a bird, continue the story! What's her name? Russell's old wife, right? And DaBaby was beating that! Finish the story!" Kimora responded to Flex on Instagram. “Lol what?! You’re being sassy AF Flex. Respectfully, I’ve never met DaBaby in my life. But YOU on the other hand,” she wrote, alongside two corn emojis and the hashtag “projecting much.
