French Fans Chant Cardi B’s Name After Nicki Minaj Cancels Show

French fans knew exactly how to get at Nicki Minaj for canceling a show in Bordeaux over the weekend.

After the rapper announced that her Saturday concert at the Arkea Arena had to be canceled because of “technical difficulties,” the fans, who had already been let into the venue, voiced their displeasure by chanting the name of her rival of the moment, Cardi B, according to USA Today.

In one video posted to Twitter, fans loudly boo the announcement before starting a sustained chant of “Cardi B! Cardi B! Cardi B!”

The announcement came weeks after Minaj had to cancel another show in Slovenia on Feb. 22 because of “technical difficulties.”

Following the poor reception, Minaj posted a video on Instagram explaining that she was forced to cancel the show because of power issues at the venue.

“You guys, it’s not in my best interest not to perform and lose money and aggravate my fans. … These two cities that had technical issues were cities that I had never been to before and we tried to add them but they just didn’t have the power in the building to facilitate my show. And they didn’t tell us that until three hours before the show as opposed to when we did sound check,” she explained.

Minaj went on to say that she wanted to make up for the canceled show and hoped to do so soon.

Later, on Twitter, she added, “Why would an artist cancel a show & lose money? What for? When they’re already in the building, dressed, etc. The artist is just as mad as the fans when a show can’t go on. I love seeing my fans. Nothing can stop me.”
