Frank Ocean Says He Was Once A Crack Selling Thug

In a recent interview with Oyster Magazine, singer-songwriter Frank Ocean talks about his childhood days before the stardom. When asked whether he was bullied in school the Odd Future member says that he never had to worry about getting picked on because he was a “thug.”

“I was a thug,” said Ocean. “I sold a lot of cocaine and crack.”

When Oyster’s editor Zac Bayly asked the “Thinking Bout You” singer if he really sold drugs, Ocean responded, “all the time.” Bayly even followed up with a simple “really?” and Ocean gave a simple “yep.”

The interview also covered other parts of Ocean’s early life. The New Orleans native discussed not have any parental guidance for his budding creative endeavors as a child.

“As a young person I didn’t have, for lack of a better word, I didn’t have a Joe Jackson in my family,” said Ocean. “I didn’t even have a parent who encouraged what I did in that way.”

Ocean says that experience did help create a more “pure” attitude about his love for music and writing. Frank Ocean is set to display some of that musical love when he joins with his OFWGKTA comrades in November for the Odd Future Carnival.
