IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Folk rocker Vic Chesnutt died Friday at the age of 45 after falling in a coma.
Constellation Records posted a note on its Web site stating that Chesnutt died in Athens, Georgia, at 2:59 p.m.

There was a flurry of unconfirmed reports that the 45-year-old Chesnutt's condition was the result of a suicide attempt.

Chesnutt had a long history of struggling with depression, alcoholism and drug abuse, according to NPR.org.

The singer has recorded more than 15 albums and has done numerous collaborations with other artists, such as Widespread Panic and Elf Power.

His last two albums - "At The Cut" and "Skitter On Take Off" - were both released in 2009.
