Back from his $300,000 vacation to the Maldives, Floyd Mayweather is considering coming out of retirement for a return to the ring.
But, like all things Mayweather, there’d need to be plenty of zeroes involved.
In an interview with Showtime during a Saturday night bout between Mayweather Promotions fighter Badou Jack and Lucian Bute in Washington, D.C., Mayweather said he’d command a payout similar to what he earned after last year’s victory over Manny Pacquiao in the so-called “Fight of the Century.”
“If I came back, of course it’d have to be a nine-figure payday and probably a championship fight,” Mayweather said.
Mayweather, who turns 40 in February, reportedly earned $300 million in 2015, according to Forbes. He made roughly $220 million after beating Pacquiao in May 2015 by unanimous decision.
In September he decisioned Andre Berto, which tied former heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano’s record of 49-0. Though Mayweather once maintained the Berto fight would be his last, he said Saturday that he’s re-opened discussions with TV networks.
“Right now, I’m happy being on this side, but I’ve been talking with CBS and Showtime, and you just never know."
It’s far from an official comeback announcement, but if Mayweather’s spending habits are any hint, the six-figure Hermes bags he recently bought look big enough to carry boxing gloves.
S/O to Floyd for repping Scurry Life …….
