FINALLY SOMEBODY DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT! GOV. PATTERSON ADDRESSES THE STOP & FRISK LAW! SAY'S COPS STOPPED HIM 3 TIMES WHEN HE WAS YOUNGER!

ALBANY - Gov. Paterson, who has been making the rounds of black radio stations to discuss the new stop-and-frisk law, said Monday cops stopped him three times when he was younger.
Appearing on the Steve Harvey show on WBLS, Paterson, who signed the bill over the objections of Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, said one time police spoke to him for a few minutes and were "very gracious."

"Two times, I'll tell you, I hadn't done anything wrong, but I certainly felt like I had when they left," he said. "For a lot of young people, that is a negative experience." A spokesman later said each incident occurred in Suffolk County on Long Island.

The first two happened when Paterson was in his teens, and the other when he was in his late 20s.

"He was stopped by police and asked questions," spokesman Morgan Hook said. "He wasn't frisked. He has no idea if they kept records."

The stop-and-frisk bill Paterson signed bars the NYPD from keeping records on those it stops and frisks who are not found to have done anything wrong.

The governor has said he hopes the new law results in less racial profiling. The overwhelming majority of those stopped are minority-group members.

Bloomberg and Kelly have warned that crime could spike because of the new law. Paterson dismissed such arguments as "shrill."
