FEDS DRAG SWIZZ BEATZ INTO MEGAUPLOAD CASE

The Feds may have found a new way to persecute Megaupload here in the U.S. The investigation hit a standstill when the file storage site filed a motion seeking to dismiss the case on the grounds that the U.S. authorities lacked the jurisdiction due to it being a foreign company. However, a new filing lists Swizz Beatz as a U.S. representative for Megaupload.

When Megaupload was first shut down in January, Swizz Beatz came under fire for being listed on the website as the company's CEO. Despite that, he was not included in the indictment against Megaupload. That's all changing now as United States Attorney Neil MacBride is looking for a ways to take down the company here in the States.

“After Defendant Dotcom became Defendant Megaupload’s Chief Innovation Officer, the company appears to have employed at least two Chief Executive Officers in the United States: first David Robb and then Kasseem David Dean (also known as Swizz Beatz),” the filing reads. MacBridge also alleges that Beatz represented Megaupload in front of the United States Trade Representative in December, 2011, after it was accused of allowing piracy.

As of now, Swizz Beatz has refused to cooperate with the government's investigation. But there's a good chance he may get served with a summons forcing him to cooperate.
