Fans React To Victoria Monét Getting Snubbed By 2024 MTV Video Music Awards Again

Victoria Monét once again after the singer was snubbed in major categories at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Nominations for this year’s show were released on Tuesday (Aug. 6) and the JAGUAR II songstress wasn’t nominated for Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Cinematography, or Best Choreography. This comes a year after she was told that it was “too early in [her] story” to perform at the awards show. One fan took to Twitter writing, “Victoria Monet and Tinashe not getting one vma nomination is some sort of sick joke.” Another chimed in, “The thing is… Victoria Monét is a textbook MTV VMAs artist. She wears her legendary influences on her sleeve and she creates amazing visual pop art, idk why they keep overlooking her?!” Elsewhere, someone felt Monét’s snub was personal as they tweeted, “Now, who down at the @vmas & @MTV has a problem with Victoria Monét? Because this is starting to feel personal. My girl always delivers ART in her music videos.” As a constellation prize of sorts, the now three-time Grammy winner is up for Best R&B for “On My Mama” and the fan-voted category PUSH Performance of the Year. The eligibility period, according to Billboard, was from June 22, 2023 to June 20, 2024—which means the visual for “Alright” could’ve been nominated. It premiered on June 10.
