A virtual argument between two Facebook users in northwestern Indiana turned into a real-life brawl, police said.
Brandon Melcic, 24, fired a gun outside his home after an unidentified 26-year-old man, upset over comments posted about him on the social-network site, showed up and started throwing rocks, police told the Northwest Indiana Times.
The unidentified man said he was there to talk to Melcic about the messages he left on Facebook.
Instead of keeping the fight online - or just deleting the offending words - Melcic pulled a gun and fired it twice into the ground, according to a police report.
He later told cops he fired the weapon because he thought the rock thrower was there to hurt him.
The 26-year-old man told cops he never got closer to the house than the sidewalk, but the Chicago Sun Times reported that he punched the house's siding.
He was not arrested, but Melcic was taken into custody on criminal recklessness and firearms charges.
Despite the violent incident, a Facebook search Tuesday showed that Melcic still had a Facebook account and more than 700 Facebook friends.
