Exclusive Interview with Artist, Taxi Cab on his new singles: “Two Things At Once” and “Laughing At The Breeze”

Let’s Begin, what state are you from?

Kalamazoo, Michigan
3. Why did you write this song?
I wrote this song because of the constant internal conflicts that I face in everyday life. Within
one's self, their conscious, their active thoughts, they will always weigh the pros and cons of a
situation and make their decision based on the facts at hand. But what do you do when there are
no cold hard facts? Go with your gut? Picking one choice can take you here, but another choice
will take you there. There’s no clear distinction as to which decision will be the “right” decision
down the line, and this concept is what my latest song, “Two Things At Once” is all about.
Describing the internal conflict that we face, and those self-involved issues which have no clear
answer.

4. Is there anything or anybody that inspired you to create this project?

Since the new year, I have taken an especially special liking to artists such as Navy Blue,
Westside Gunn, and Boldy James. Both the beats and content fit so well in my head. After
digesting the lyrics and the audio-scape that these artists primarily use, I eagerly began flipping
through beats in order to properly convey emotions over an instrumental that gives you that
same comfort as the lyrics.

5. Is this your best release yet and why?

Music is an extremely subjective medium, as is most art, so to say this is my best release yet
would not be speaking for everybody. I will say this, however, that “Two Things At Once”, as a
whole, is the most intricate concept I’ve had yet. To take something within my life that I’ve dealt
with for years and to turn it into an enjoyable piece of music is something I can say I’m extremely
proud of.

6. Who is going to connect with this song best?

There is the deep philosophical meaning behind the concept of loving two things at once. The
constant back and forth nature of wanting to be in two places at once, doing things for two
people you hold closely, sacrificing one’s enjoyment for the happiness of another, the list goes on.
The people that are going to connect best with this piece are the ones who are “overly conscious”
of their lives and who struggle with that internal conflict more often than your average Joe. The
ones who are constantly left with different choices and have an extremely difficult time dealing
with the constant push and shove of dealing with two things (or more) at once.

7. what is the motive behind the song?

The motive behind this song is to provoke a bit of pain within the listener, but this is not bad pain.
Not a pain of hopelessness or misery, but the pain of healing. A pain that hasn’t been able to be
brought out only because their emotions have yet to be put into words and proper context. I hope
to have made an extremely relatable piece.
