Each summer, New Yorkers brace for the heat — and the latest “beast” sightings (i.e., the “Montauk Monster” and subsequent creatures that city dwellers puzzled and obsessed over). According to Gothamist, the most recent mystery monster washed ashore from the East River over the weekend. We’re not sure exactly what this grotesque thing is, though to us it resembles a deformed hairless pig, a giant rodent (an escaped capybara, perhaps) or a leprechaun. Whatever it is, it ain’t pretty. Also, we can only imagine how awful the stench is with the capybara leprechaun beast lying in the hot sun all day.
