Eric Benét Reveals He Almost Got Into Altercation With Michael Jackson’s Father Joe Jackson Almost At Award Show

Eric Benét speaks on a “shady” experience he had with Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, years ago. In a TikTok video posted on Monday (Sept. 30), Benét shared a time he was seated in front of the late music exec during an award show. The “Georgy Porgy” singer recalled being excited to meet the infamous father, but quickly felt different when he leaned up over his shoulder and weirdly whispered, “Halle Berry” in his ear. Berry and Benét were married from 2001-2005, and divorced due to Benét’s alleged infidelity. “The first thing I thought was ‘it’s pronounced Halle, not holly.’ And then the next thing I thought was, ‘What the actual f is happening right now?’” he explained. “And I didn’t know, I couldn’t tell obviously ‘cuz I don’t know Joe Jackson—does he think he’s being witty? Is he trying to introduce himself to me? Like, is that the icebreaker? Is he bonding with me on some suspected Hollywood villain type sh*t? I didn’t know.” Benét further explained that he attempted to brush off the comment and enjoy the show, but he felt heat on his neck again, with Jackson repeating his ex-wife’s name. “Am I about to get into an altercation with the man who whooped little Michael Jackson’s a**?” Benét recalled of Jackson possibly taunting him. “Is that what’s about to happen right here on this awards show?” However, Benét politely shut Jackson’s antics down and asked him to “not do that,” to which he asserted he was “only playing.” For the rest of the night, Benét says he was left alone.
