A festival that was to be headlined by rapper Eminem has been temporarily suspended, after a stage collapsed and killed three people.
Eminem was scheduled to take the stage at Pukkelpop Festival in pastels, Belgium, where artists like The Foo Fighters, The Offspring, Wiz Khalifa, D-12, Tinie Tempah and numerous others were also slated to perform.
As Chicago band Smith Westerns were about to perform, a heavy storm swept through the area and caused the stage to collapse.
In addition to the three deaths, over 40 festival attendees were injured when high winds and heavy rains battered the concert area and brought down large screens and other heavy materials associated with the stage.
The event, which started today (August 18th), was expected to draw over 60,000 people.
Organizers of the Pukklepop Festival suspended all performances for tonight and are reportedly deciding whether or not to continue with the entire festival after the deaths.
According to the latest post on the Pukklepop blog, organizers will at least continue the concert tomorrow, for Em's performance.
"We will clean up the grounds tonight and ensure that everything is safe again so that we can start tomorrow at 11 am with a new start for Pukkelpop 2011," organizers said.
