Rap superstar Eminem is to return to Reading and Leeds as the first headliner to be announced for the Reading and Leeds Festival line-up in 2013.
Zane Lowe confirmed the 42-year-old rapper will headline the festivals next August during his BBC Radio One show tonight (December 10). Eminem last played Reading and Leeds back in 2001, after the release of 'The Marshall Mathers LP' which featured hits 'Stan' and 'Real Slim Shady'. Marilyn Manson also joined the hip hop star on stage for a rendition of their hit single 'The Way I Am'.
The rapper, also known by his alter ego Slim Shady or his birthname Marshall Mathers, joins the previously announced Deftones, Alt-J, Sub Focus and Boy Better Know, a rap and hip hop collective which features JME, Skepta and Wiley, at Reading & Leeds 2013. In a shake-up across both festival sites there will be the introduction of two brand new stages, the BBC Radio One Dance Stage and BBC Radio 1xtra stage, both with a three day line-up across Reading and Leeds Festivals 2013.
Reading Festival 2013 will take place in Richfield Avenue, Reading from 23-25 August 2013 with access to the campsite from Thursday 22nd August and early entry access from Wednesday 21st. Leeds Festival 2013 will take place in Bramham Park, Wetherby, Leeds over the same weekend with similar early access arrangements.
