IN THE STREETS & ON THE WEB

Eminem remains the leader in Rap album sales while Drake falls just out of the Top 20.

This week on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 drops out of the Top 5, Drake's Nothing Was The Same falls from the Top 20 and Yo Gott's I Am lands just outside of the Top 50.
Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 Hits #6

Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 sold approximately 84,000 units this week. Its #6 placement is the lowest for the project in five weeks of availability, placing it behind releases from Garth Brooks, One Direction, Kelly Clarkson and Duck Dynasty's Robertson family. Eminem's work has been praised by many recently, including Saigon, who celebrated the rapper's ability to have personal reflections in his lyrics. "When Eminem came out, we knew he didn't like his baby's mother," Saigon said in an interview with MTV earlier this month. "We knew he hated his mother. We knew his daughter's name was Hailey. We knew so much about his personal life without him being on a reality show. His music was almost a reality show. That made us feel like we knew him more than had he just been a dope rapper. It kind of made you feel like, 'I like this kid because I can almost identify with what he's going through.'"
Drake's Nothing Was The Same Strikes At #23

In its eleventh week out, Drake's Nothing Was The Same falls out of the Top 20 and lands at #23. This week, the project sold more than 23,000 units. In total, Nothing Was The Same has surpassed the platinum marker, with sales adding up to more than 1,231,000. Drake has also been in the headlines recently for his work outside of music. The OVO rapper was recently added to the Jordan brand team. Though his official title and role have not been reported, the public received confirmation of the Jordan-Drake deal earlier this month. "He's home," Jordan's verified Twitter account said in an update recently. "Welcome the newest member of #TeamJordan: @Drake"
Yo Gotti's I Am Lands At #56

Yo Gotti's I Am is in its third week of availability. The project sold more than 11,000 units this week and landed at #56. Recently, Gotti spoke with HipHopDX about the confidence that he has regarding his work. "I think I’ve just been blessed to stay consistent and keep dropping hot music," Gotti said in an exclusive conversation with HipHopDX. "If you do that, this sh*t speaks for itself. If you put out good music and just be a good nigga, then sh*t comes to you." In total, Yo Gotti's I Am has sold more than 78,000 units to date.
